Scottish Ambulance and Coastguard teams were called to Luskentyre beach this morning (Sunday July 7th) after a visitor suffered a broken ankle.

Scottish Ambulance requested Coastguard assistance at 11.15am, after being called to help the 63-year-old woman, who had broken her ankle while walking on the beach.

She was too far from the car park to be taken to the ambulance and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Tarbert and Scalpay were asked to help bring her to safety.

The teams used a stretcher to carry her to the waiting ambulance in the car park at Luskentyre road end, from where she was taken by road to Western Isles Hospital for treatment.
