Saturday 18th August saw a large community beach clean operation on the Westside, an estimated two tonnes of rubbish was collected including 483 kg plastic!
Around 50 people turned up to help clear plastic and other debris from the shorelines of Brue, Arnol, North and South bragar and Feibhig. The day was organised by Clean Coast Outer Hebrides with many locals to the Westside and other parts of the island turning out on the blustery morning, even some holiday makers came to help. The mounds of litter picked were collected together, weighed and sorted with the plastic being sent to be recycled.
