A meeting to be held at Kinloch Historical Society tomorrow (Tuesday January 15th) to update residents of Balallan on plans for changes to the overhead line and switching station.
It’s the latest stage in project planning for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) as they plan upgrades to the electricity transmission network to support the development of island renewables.
New overhead line stretching for 25km between Balallan and Stornoway is planned, together with a new gas-insulated switching station near Balallan.
The works will help connecting island-based renewable energy generators to the network, as well as improving the security of the existing power network.
SSEN will have information about the proposed work and people available to answer questions at Kinloch Historical Society between 3pm and 7pm tomorrow evening.
It’s open for all to attend without appointment.
